Rodrigue's Acadiana

Collection of the Stuller Family, Lafayette, LA

An umbrella event taking place in Lafayette, Louisiana over a course of five months honoring George Rodrigue.

Events include:

  • Festival of the Arts honoring Rodrigue, hosted by the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's College of the Arts (COA).
  • A major exhibition of Rodrigue's early work in the main gallery of the Acadiana Center for the Arts (AcA).
  • An educational show examining the process of fine art print making as exemplified by a Blue Dog painting.
  • An exhibition of Rodrigue paintings of Acadiana at the University Art Museum (UAM).
  • The declaration of "Rodrigue Day" through city officials in a ceremony.

The Southern Open is a juried exhibition featuring artists from the 5 southern states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Juror for Southern Open, 2009 is Eleanor Heartney, a New York-based art writer and cultural critic.
